Todd Attends Conference

The Annual Spring TECH Conference was held in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, May 12-14, 2011.  Todd left Boise on Wednesday afternoon and travelled for 15 hours to get to Charlotte, North Carolina!   This was his first TECH conference and he reports that the information acquired and networks developed were outstanding.

Organizational members, individual members, and corporate sponsors were present for fellowship, member reports, the annual business board meeting, and significant opportunites for networking among like-minded mission organizations.  The purpose of TECH (Technical Exchange for Christian Healthcare) is to provide a membership association committed to improving the quality of healthcare in the developing world.  TECH connects people with appropriate resources.

Many medical mission agencies lack the time and resources necessary to solely complete their overseas projects.  In order to meet their mission needs, they often call on other organizations for assistance.  Unfortunately, not all non-profit relief organizations are providing quality, appropriate medical goods.  Many non-profit relief agencies lack the technical support necessary to properly evaluate the condition, sustainability, and appropriateness of the medical equipment they receive as donations.

TECH members are available to help address questions regarding the appropriateness of the supplies received from donors and ultimately, those supplies shipped to international locations.

TECH has coined a phrase, “Junk for Jesus” and TECH is working hard to eliminate this unfortunate practice.

Hands of Hope Northwest is wholly committed to ensuring that “junk” is not shipped overseas.  Please visit the TECH Quality Standards for Suppliers of Medical and Dental Equipment and Supplies.
