We were so blessed to have 30 guests visit our facility from around the Intermountain Region on Saturday, May 12th, 2012. They were part of the Intermountain Nazarene Missions International (NMI) Convention. Saturday morning was a “service projects day” and these volunteers turned out in force to help us repair equipment, sort supplies, and pack boxes! Such a tremendous blessing to our world-wide impact.

48′ Freuhauf Dry Trailer donated to HoHNW

Hands of Hope Northwest received a HUGE present this past week, in fact a 48’ long present! A local businessman joined hands with the ministry in donating a 48’ Freuhauf Dry Trailer for use in transporting pallets of supplies and equipment between facilities as well as for use in picking up large quantities of donations from hospitals farther than just the local area. We have been having to make multiple trips with our small truck and we will now be able to minimize the fuel and time involved in collecting/handling donated supplies. Our neighbor, Rich Rehn of Rehn Trucking, has on several occasions helped us with transportation but we have been limited by the availability of his trailer. Now we will be able to load our trailer and have it ready to move when a tractor is available. This is such a tremendous blessing!

“Celebrate Spring” Volunteer BBQ

If you weren’t at the Ministry Center on Tuesday, April 10^th, you really missed a treat! The sun was shining, the hot dogs and hamburgers were delicious, and we enjoyed it with wonderful company. About forty volunteers gathered for our lunchtime “Celebrate Spring” barbeque, and about 15 were there for our dinnertime barbeque. On behalf of the volunteers, Debbie presented a check to the Board Members who were present for $186,678. This represents the value of the hours our volunteers donated last year! We certainly could not do all that we do without this donation of their time. If you would like to be a part of this great group of people who prepare medical equipment and supplies for shipment, please call the office. We would be glad to have you! A special thank you to Gail Kissell for sponsoring the barbeque to honor our volunteers.

Our Hands of Hope NW Logo is now on the Truck

The Hands of Hope Northwest Team is so excited to have our truck back with the new logos! For years our truck has run around the valley disguised in all white. We are excited that we now have a 16 foot mobile advertising for the ministry and impact of Hands of Hope Northwest! Thank you to those who donated specifically for this project! LIZ MURTLAND WORLD IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

CRITERIA

The board of Hands of Hope NW established the following scholarship in honor of the founding Executive Director Liz Murtland. The $500 scholarship will be awarded in May and sent directly to the college/university business office to be applied to the successful candidate’s account.

Pursue a career in the health professions
Cumulative grade point average of a least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
Provide evidence of significant involvement in community efforts to benefit the marginalized population
Provide evidence of commitment in time at Hands of Hope, NW
Demonstrate leadership in school, church, and community

The Applicant Review Committee will interview finalists

Container for Transnistria (Moldova) is loaded & on its way

This has been an absolutely INCREDIBLE month, from our trip to Idaho Falls to recover thousands of dollars worth of equiment and supplies, to our shipment of a container to Transnistria (Moldova – former USSR) this past Wednesday. We valuate things significantly lower than market value. If we were to consider market value, that container would have been over USD $596,000.00!! We have truly been able to make some major impacts locally and globally! Our volunteers are fantastic – what an incredible team. We are already staging a second 40′ shipping container which, Lord Willing, will ship in the next 7-14 days to Kiev, Ukraine.
